A NOTE FROM JULIAN
It has long been my dream to present a guitar master class in the spirit of the lineage of teachers and teachings I feel so fortunate to have grown up with. At their core, these traditions are based on the idea of taking things slowly, incrementally, over as long a period of time as needed, but always with a sense of urgency - focusing and cultivating skill sets that ground us in order to liberate us as artists and storytellers. This looks different for every guitarist, although we share more in common with each other than not. Through deep listening, learning, sharing, and playing, we are able to experience a sense of connection and place within this wonderful community of artists.
Within all of these traditions, there is also the idea at play that we are all inherently self-taught, even in the presence of a great teacher. The teacher’s role is to reflect and provide support and guidance at all levels so we can go forward as guitarists and artists, but our self-directed study is always at the heart of this journey. Embracing this duality often involves a reconciliation of group learning and personal practice - learning how to comfortably navigate within both environments for ourselves and in support of our fellow guitarists.
This master class is focused on holding a space for you, whether you identify as a player, a songwriter, a teacher or all of the above.
With Gratitude,
Julian

JOIN JULIAN
Julian Lage’s Master Class is a multi-day event for guitarists of all levels seeking to deepen their personal practice and integrate foundational skills in a regenerative way. The goal is to help participants cultivate their own personal creative journey, explore how to make time and space to slow down for deep work and discovery, and learn how to establish a healthy personal practice in order to be more available to the music and those around us.
Teachings will take the form of large and small group classes, lectures and performances, all led by Julian and a faculty of Julian’s closest collaborators and fellow practitioners. All players from all traditions are welcomed.
